Recently, Deven Parekh spoke about a new $2.57 billion venture called Fund XIII. The new fund, which will focus on software, e- commerce, Internet and data-services businesses, is about one-fourth larger than Insight’s last fund, which closed in 2011.
Deven Parekh reported that the funding closing comes on the heels of a very active period of investment for Insight, which has backed rounds for more than 25 companies in the past year, according to Thomson Reuters. Larger transactions include BMC Software, for which Insight is a member of a consortium taking the company private, and Air Watch, a mobile security provider that raised $200 million from Insight in February.
According to Deven Parekh, it took a little over four months to raise the new fund, and most of the limited partners existed investors.
